Amalgamation of Education and Technology: NEP 2020 The National Education Policy, 2020, launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (“MHRD”), is revolutionary in every sense including the need for early childhood care, inclusive education and restructuring of the current curriculum, an inherent thread that runs through the Policy is the amalgamation of education and technology. As we can realize that presently India has transformed itself into an ‘information based society’ and this leads to use of technology in the field of education to give optimal results in teaching learning process. In the current pandemic situation embedding technology in education is the best aspect incorporated by the Policy to become ‘self-reliant’ India. With this virtual learning is performing as good as conventional form of learning. Significant aspects covered with the implementation of technology in Education Sector by NEP 2020 are: Technology in Primary Education: The Policy noted the importance of technology for primary education removing the gap between teacher and students, introducing digital graphics based learning, digital library, animated videos with the introduction of coding concept keeping in mind future developments. Professional and Higher Education: Professional and higher education is framing students to be future leader, scientists, entrepreneur, educationist and many more and this is only possible with the amalgamation of Education and Technology. Administration in Education: To excel in teaching and learning is not enough for being a Self-Reliant India but administrative aspect also plays vital role. As from the base i.e. taking admission of students till the final generation of degrees to them need to be managed with accuracy and efficiency and that can be made possible with the perfect blend of education and technology. With the usage of technology administrative part can be made more efficient, effective and fast which is the need of hour. Adaption of AI: The Policy recognizes the exhaustive use of AI and challenges arising on account of the widespread use of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”), also highlights the need to adopt changes occurring on account of increased use of AI across all sectors.AI is the way to new dynamic India i.e. Self-Reliant India where things are beyond imagination and limitation. With the implementation of AI in Education sector it is required to invest on digital infrastructure, creation of virtual labs and digital storages, training teachers to become quality content creators, designing and implementing of online assessments, development of online teaching platforms and tools, establishing standards for content, technology and pedagogy for online teaching-learning. Although the National Education Policy has done a remarkable job in embedding technology in ‘education’. In the Indian context, this also raises certain concerns, which need to be considered. As we can see use of Computers, technology and internet is dream in rural areas, in fact, in India both rural and urban area’s population access internet through mobile phone which is not sufficient to ahead with time and achieve the goal as envisioned. Thus in order to be “Atamanirbhar Bharat” with the implementation of technology we need to promote, adopt and adapt with technological aspects at the grass root levels.
